The NuBlade+ is a cutting blade for polymer clay: about six inches of stainless steel with a razor-sharp cutting edge that holds up considerably longer than the cheap tissue blades. What the “+” adds is a pair of molded handles permanently fixed at each end — you get a proper grip and a safe place for your fingers, which matters on a blade this sharp and makes a long, even cut far easier to control. There is enough give in it to follow a curve rather than only cut straight.
Good for: slicing canes cleanly, trimming and squaring blocks, cutting sheets to a line, and lifting thin slices off the work surface.
Wipe it clean and dry after use, and store it where a hand will not find the edge by accident.
Discontinued, which is a shame, because it is a very good blade. We can’t get any more of them.
I can’t tell you how many times I sliced myself with blades that didn’t have a handle, so these save me so much hassle and also time because I don’t have to pause to make sure I’m grabbing the right side, or deal with trying to continue working with a newly bandaged wound. It’s just as sharp, and has enough of a bend to it that it meets all of my cutter needs.
