Description
Liquid polymer clay in a metallic gold — real clay in a pourable form, not a paint. It brushes on, floods into place and cures in the oven along with whatever it is sitting on.
What it is good for:
- Bringing out texture. Flood it into a stamped, carved or textured surface and wipe the high points back — the gold stays in the recesses and the detail reads properly.
- Gilding. A thin coat over a baked piece gives a metallic surface that is baked in rather than sitting on top, so it will not rub off the way a wax or a paint can.
- Faux enamel and cloisonné. Pooled inside raised walls it cures glossy and hard, which is the whole trick.
- Joining raw clay to baked. Brushed on as a slip it grips both, which ordinary clay will not do reliably.
- Repairs and touch-ups on gold or bronze pieces, and filling a hairline gap before a second bake.
Build it in thin coats rather than one thick one — thin layers cure harder and keep the shine, and a heavy pour can stay soft in the middle.
Baking. Cures at 275–325°F (135–163°C). Bake it with the piece it is on and follow whichever schedule that clay needs.
The last of the Kato. The clay range is gone entirely, and this gold is all that is left of it here. Discounted for clearance.
