Cernit Neon is the fluorescent line in the Cernit range, made in Belgium by The Clay and Paint Factory. Four colors, and they are the brightest thing Cernit make — saturated day-glow shades that read as genuinely luminous next to ordinary opaque clay rather than merely bright.

Day-glow pigments of this kind fluoresce: they take in ultraviolet light and give it back as visible light, which is why they look lit from within in daylight and why they glow under a blacklight. Worth knowing if you make anything for festivals, club nights or Halloween — these will react under UV, unlike standard colors.

They intermix with each other and with the rest of the Cernit range, though mixing into an opaque color will dilute the fluorescence.

Supplied as a 56g block.

Baking: 230–266°F (110–130°C) for up to 30 minutes in a conventional home oven. Do not exceed 266°F.
