Description
Cernit Number One is the opaque, general-purpose polymer clay in the Cernit range, made in Belgium by The Clay and Paint Factory. It bakes completely opaque with no color shift between raw and cured, so what you mix is what you get.
It is the firmest of the Cernit lines — noticeably stiffer than Cernit Opaline or Cernit Metallic, and closest to Sculpey Premo in consistency. That firmness suits caning, sculpting and detailed work that needs to hold an edge. Cured pieces stay flexible rather than brittle, do not crack, and take a slight sheen that polishes up glossy — closer to Fimo Professional than to Premo, which cures more matte.
The colors in this polymer clay range intermix freely. Suited to jewelry, miniatures, figures and reproductions.
Supplied as a 250g block — roughly four and a half 56g bars, at a lower cost per gram.
Baking: 230–266°F (110–130°C) for up to 30 minutes in a conventional home oven. Do not exceed 266°F.
