Cernit Polymer Clay
Blueberry Beads carries one of the largest selections of Cernit polymer clay available in the United States — all lines, all colors, in stock and ready to ship. Whether you're a jewelry maker, sculptor, or mixed-media artist, Cernit's premium Belgian-made clay delivers professional results.
Cernit originated in Prague in the early 1960s and is now produced by The Clay and Paint Factory in Liège, Belgium. It has earned a reputation as one of the finest polymer clays available, prized for its flexibility after curing, brilliant color range, and ease of use.
Cernit Lines
- Translucent — One of the clearest translucent polymer clays available. Soft and pliable, ideal for gemstone effects and luminous designs.
- Pearl — Heavily saturated with mica for a stunning pearlescent effect. A favorite for jewelry making.
- Metallic — A wide range of colors with mica that produces a true metallic sheen after curing.
- Opaline — Cures to a smooth porcelain-like finish. Includes primary colors ideal for custom color mixing.
- Number One — Cernit's flagship opaque line with the widest color range. Firm, consistent, and versatile.
- Neon — Intensely fluorescent in four vivid colors. Striking under UV light.
- Nature — Earthy tones (Savanna, Basalt, Granite) for realistic natural textures and effects.
- Doll Collection — A firm clay with skin-tone colors designed for doll making and figurine sculpting.
Working with Cernit
The Translucent, Pearl, and Metallic lines can be quite soft, especially when freshly stocked. If the clay is softer than you prefer, conditioning it briefly or leaching it will firm it up. The Number One, Opaline, Neon, and Nature lines are typically firmer straight out of the package.
All Cernit clay is baked in a home oven at 265°F (130°C) for 30 minutes. After curing, it remains slightly flexible — making it ideal for thin petals, bracelets, and fine jewelry that would snap in a more brittle clay.
